Bed Installation Service
Contract Beds can offer an installation service at an additional charge. As requirements differ from project to project, we generally work on a quoted rate basis, which takes into consideration the following criteria:
- Number of rooms to be serviced
- Overall size of the project
- Length of time required onsite
This service is not generally recommended for projects of less than 50 rooms and would normally be associated with Hotels or large installations.
Within the quoted rate we will survey the rooms and provide an installation plan. Our team of expert fitters will:
- Remove beds to be replaced to the Airsprung vehicle
- Replace with new beds
- Remove all packaging
- Set new beds up
- Dispose of old beds
- Dispose of packaging
- Leave rooms clean and tidy of any materials used in the installation
All our fitting teams are accompanied by a team manager; the team manager will be responsible for liaising with both his team on site and the housekeeping staff. The team manager will always work sensitively with the housekeeping staff to keep disruption and inconvenience to an absolute minimum.

Delivery Service & Lead-times
Standard delivery is included in the cost of your goods, standard delivery means, to the end of the tailgate! This is the delivery method that has been used for many years and is understood by most of our customers.
However, times and legislation have changed, requiring smaller operators in the leisure and hospitality industry to provide the correct certification of beds in their properties. These beds are tested to a higher fire hazard standard (generally source 5 medium hazard) and are not easily available through bed retailers, so are for the most part purchased direct from the manufacturer. Our experience tells us that tailgate delivery for these types of premises is sometimes an issue, where very often there is not the man power to manoeuvre beds into rooms. We have tried to combat this by looking at other services that are more sympathetic.
Standard Delivery:
Tailgate delivery is included in the price of goods, goods are delivered to the end of the tailgate - manpower is required at the delivery end to assist with the delivery.
Direct To Room:
This service is operated on a two man premise. The delivery date will be advised, the room will need to be cleared and ready for the delivery. Delivery will be made into the room of choice - not suitable for more than three stories.
This service is an additional cost and does not include set up, package removal or old bed removal.
Installation and removal:
Suitable for large refurbishments or new projects, goods will be delivered into the rooms with packaging and old products removed and disposed by supplier.
This service is quoted on a project by project basis. Please see installation service for more details.
Lead-time:
Lead-times do fluctuate through the year, but as a general rule 2-3 weeks should be the norm, or to customers’ dates if required on a longer lead-time.
In House Testing Centre
“The contract sector, whether it be hotels. offices, school, hospitals or care homes is key to the UK economy, and ensuring that the adequate fire prevention procedures are in place is an essential safety requirement”
Madeleine Moon - Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Furniture Industry Group, 2006 - 2010.
The correct certification for the contract market (none Domestic) is essential and regulated under BS7177 2008, stating that all beds and mattresses should conform to BS7177 Medium Hazard.
How do we guarantee that our products conform to regulations?
Airsprung Beds is a strictly no smoking site, with one exception, our on site testing facility!
In line with FIRA guidelines, we have tested products on site for many years. Initially products are tested during the development stage (NPD) ; this guides us with both the material and components and determines whether a product will continue through the development process.
Once a product is certified crib 5 (BS7177) it can continue into production, following this decision the product is then retested from the production line, this ensures that nothing has changed from NPD to actual production run. Assuming that the product tests satisfactorily, it is then diarised for periodical test, usually at six monthly intervals. Each product has a test certificate, to show that it has passed the required test, the salient tests are:
Smoulder test - lighted cigarette, this test is timed to assess whether the cigarette extinguishes or ignites the product.
Match test - a lighted match is placed within an area of the product using a wooden crib, again the objective of the exercise is to see how long the lighted flame lasts, there is a very specific time allotted for the test to be considered a success.
The ability to test to crib 5 in our own facility guarantees that all contract product’s conform to the legislation. Furthermore, continuous, periodical testing throughout the products life cycle guarantees that we consistently conform to current legislation.
